Maple Burl

Maple burl is created by an unusual growth on trees that results in a highly figured piece of wood. Maple burl is often darker in color than maple wood, yellow ochre to brown, with many whorls and patterns and an uneven, rough edge. It is often found on Big Leaf Maples native to the Pacific Northwest.
